In Summary

The arrests were made on Monday, July 21, 2025, after officers received a tip-off from members of the public.

Three individuals are in police custody after they were arrested in Watamu’s Timboroni area for allegedly possessing narcotics and drug-related paraphernalia.

The arrests were made on Monday, July 21, 2025, after officers received a tip-off from members of the public who reported suspicious activity at a private residence in the area.

According to a statement released by the National Police Service (NPS) on Tuesday, July 22, officers raided a house belonging to one of the suspects, where all three were found.

A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of 14 sachets of heroin, approximately 100 grams of cannabis sativa, three syringes, 15 plastic packaging sheets, and three sterilized alcohol pads.

Police also recovered a spent cartridge and a notebook containing firearm sketches, suggesting the possibility of additional criminal activities.

“The suspects were found inside a house belonging to one of them. A search of the premises led to the recovery of various items, including drugs and packaging materials. Further investigations revealed a spent cartridge and sketches of firearms in a ledger,” read part of the police statement.

The suspects are being held in custody and are expected to face charges related to drug possession and other possible offences pending the outcome of investigations.

The National Police Service lauded the role of public cooperation in the successful operation, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in combating crime.

“The National Police Service commends members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation, which were instrumental in the success of this operation.

The Service reiterates its commitment to fostering such partnerships in the fight against crime and reaffirms its dedication to ensuring a safe and drug-free society,” the NPS noted.

The operation follows another successful arrest last week in Kilifi County, where officers acting on a similar tip-off seized 11 sachets of a substance believed to be heroin and Ksh800, believed to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade. The bust took place in the Kibaoni area of Kilifi North Sub-County.

Authorities have vowed to intensify surveillance and crackdown on the narcotics trade, calling on citizens to continue reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement.
